SEEKING TALENTED FULL-TIME EDITOR-WRITER TO WORK ON HEALTH CARE ISSUES

Are you a talented editor and wordsmith? Would you like to use your skills to work for positive social change? If so, the Commonwealth Fund, an independent foundation seeking a more equitable and affordable health care system, has the job for you.

We're looking for diverse candidates with an uncanny ability to translate dense, technical, material into concise, engaging, and reader-friendly pieces. As a key member of the Commonwealth Fund's Communications team — a vibrant group of editors, social media writers, designers, and communications specialists — you will collaborate with health policy researchers, health care advocates, and other experts to develop, write and/or edit a wide range of publications for a broad audience, from blog posts and issue briefs to explainers, feature articles, and email alerts.

The Commonwealth Fund works on a variety of important health care issues, including: universal health coverage, maternal health, racism and bias in health care, behavioral health, affordability concerns, innovations for controlling costs and taming high drug prices, international comparisons, public health infrastructure, and climate change and health.

This position will report to the Vice President for Content & Strategy within the Commonwealth Fund's Communications team.

What you bring to the position:

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years' writing and editing experience. Journalism or communications background a plus.
    • Ability to explain complex concepts and translate research findings for a broad audience.
    • Strong line editing skills.
    • Excellent communication and project management skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
    • Interest in health care and social policy issues.

What you get working with the Fund:

    • Flexible working arrangements, ability to work remotely up to 3 days a week.
    • Salary range: $90,000–$110,000, depending on experience.
    • Generous benefits package designed to support your health, financial, and lifestyle well-being. Benefits include:
      • Health insurance coverage for employees, their spouses/domestic partners, and qualified dependents, with extensive national network access and minimal to no employee contribution
      • Dental insurance coverage for employees, their spouses, and qualified dependents
      • Medical/Dependent and Transit Flexible Savings Account
      • Employer-Funded Health Reimbursement Account to help cover out-of-pocket medical costs

      • 403b retirement plan with generous employer contributions
      • Life/AD&D and Disability insurance coverage
      • Up to 12 weeks of salary continuance for the birth or adoption of a child
      • Tuition reimbursement for up to $8,000 per year ($32,000 lifetime maximum)
      • Employee Assistance Program with a variety of resources to support every stage of life
      • Matching gift program for employee charitable contributions
      • Paid time off to support employee work/life balance
      • Half-Day Summer Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day
