    Summer 2018 Internship - Future of Geopolitics Program Department: Asia Program Location: Washington, DC Job Type: Internship START YOUR APPLICATION Reports To: Director, Future of Geopolitics Program Job Summary: GMF is seeking a spring intern to assist with research on American foreign policy and the future of geopolitics. The intern will be responsible for tracking and compiling research and developments in this area, including tracking real-time developments in Europe and the United States. GMFs work on this area examines the domestic challenges to the future of the liberal international order as well as an increasingly complex global landscape. The intern will also assist the GMF Asia Program on occasion with their work on China, India, Japan, and transatlantic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. The intern will benefit from exposure to GMFs network, its high level events and interactions with various policy actors. Since the internship takes place in Washington, interns are often able to attend various related events on behalf of the initiatives staff. The Internship is unpaid, but offers an ideal opportunity to acquire substantive professional experience for those interested in a career in public policy or international affairs. Key Areas of Responsibility: * Compiling existing research on U.S. foreign policy, including U.S. approaches to rising powers and the transatlantic relationship. * Assisting with arranging and coordinating meetings and other events focused on this set of issues. Qualifications and Requirements: * Excellent analytical, writing skills and previous research experience. * Fluency in English is required; additional European language(s) a plus. * Excellent written and oral communications skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office. * Comfortable multi-tasking and working independently. * Graduate student pursuing a degree in International Relations, Regional Studies, Security Studies, or a related field or a recent graduate of such a program. * Previous experience in a think tank, foundation, NGO, government body, media outlet, or similar organization preferred. * Strong interest in national security. Start and Length of Internship: * Preferred starting date: May 14, 2018. * Preferred time commitment: 35 hours per week, MondayFriday between 9 AM to 5 PM. GMF is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
