Close to the Jersey shore, Fort Dix is also within short driving distance of a wide variety of leisure activities, cultural centers, museums, historical locations, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, snowboarding, hiking locations, etc.Learn more about this agency### Responsibilities* As a Range Safety Officer, you will perform the following duties:* Review and approve all airspace usage requests in accordance with established guidelines.* Conduct safety inspections of training facilities and units in training to ensure that they meet and adhere to established safety standards.* Schedule and manage area maintenance of range impact areas to ensure that they fully comply with training requirements, safety standards, environmental laws, and recreational policies.* Investigate accidents and safety violations to determine what caused them and implement appropriate corrective action.* Review and approve all requests for weapon systems firing based on a unit's training plan.### Travel RequiredNot required##### Supervisory statusNo* #### Job family (Series)0301 Miscellaneous Administration And Program* RequirementsHelp## Requirements### Conditions of Employment* Must be able to obtain and maintain state driver's license.* Must successfully complete Range Safety Course within six months based on course availability.* Position will require a staggered schedule which also includes holidays and weekends.* Moving Expenses are NOT authorized.* A Background investigation is required.### QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens****In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07)OR*Education:*Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Safety Management.OR*Combination of Education and Experience:* A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
