You may choose up to 2 locations you are interested in. -Full-time. Shift work may be required; this may include working night and rotating shifts as well as overtime. -Responsibilities The Recent Graduate Program is a new program that provides employment opportunities for recent graduates and individuals who obtained certificates from qualified educational institutions or programs. The program enables individuals to explore Federal civil service employment at the beginning of their careers; and engages them at the onset of their work lives, before their career path are fully established. The program duration is one year. Upon successful completion of the program and at the agency's discretion, the appointee may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. At the GS-09 (Trainee), major duties include: -Plans and conducts regulatory inspections and in-depth investigations of various industry establishments, such as manufactures, warehouses, and retail shops. -Independently carries out routine investigations and inspections. -Surveys and follows up with non-complaint industry establishments where violation is clear cut or an economic issue and seeks voluntarily compliance. -Performs analysis and evaluation on data samples and documented information gathered during inspection and investigations. -Interacts with various levels of officials representing the establishments subject to regulatory review. -Writes clear and concise final reports that support investigative findings and recommendations. -May testify in court as necessary. Collaborates routinely with other government agencies, i.e. CBP, USPS, DEA, etc. in the examination and review of imported product to ensure FDA-regulated products are in compliance with U.S. requirements. -Examines and determines admissibility of packages containing FDA-regulated products that are imported through the International Mail Facility (IMF).Additional selections may be made within the same geographical area in Food and Drug Administration. -Travel Required 50% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position. -Supervisory status No -Promotion Potential 12 -Conditions of Employment -U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident is required for this appointment. Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in quality assurance or a related degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: consumer laws, biological sciences, food science, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, legal investigations, law enforcement, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours may include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming; -OR- B. Combination of education and experience--courses consisting of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in paragraph A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. GS-9: Additional Requirements: A. Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service which includes gathering and performing standard analyses of scientific data; reviewing and evaluating scientific data for efficacy and safety and preparing reports on scientific/technical study findings; -OR- B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree; -OR- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree is related to the position to be filled; -OR- if related, a LL.B. or J.D.Two years of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent two years of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will satisfy an academic year of graduate study; -OR- C.
