Summary This position is located in the Department of Transportation,
Office of the Secretary (OST), Office of Intelligence, Security and
Emergency Response (OISER), Protective Services Division (PSD). OISER
provides Departmental executive leadership in government-wide
initiatives pertaining to homeland security, physical security,
emergency response programs, protective service operations, personnel
and document security, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Continuity
of Government (COG). OISER provides a 24/7 Crisis Management Center in
support of USDOT emergency response and programs nationwide. The OISER
has established policies and procedures for the effective execution of
intelligence, investigation, and protective service operations for the
U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary and other high ranking
officials of the Department. The Secretary is a member of the Cabinet of
the President of the United States. Because of the increased threat of
possible violence faced by Presidential Cabinet-level Secretary's both
within the United States and abroad, as well as the impending unforeseen
need for continuity of operations and government following a national
emergency, it's necessary to have protective service support for the
Secretary and at time of heightened need, the Deputy Secretary of
Transportation. The OISER has established procedures, provided training,
and secured equipment to carry out the protective service mission. The
mission incorporates the inspection, investigation, enforcement, and
compliance standards relating to protective service operations
surrounding the Secretary. The Office of Intelligence, Security and
Emergency Response (OISER), Protective Services Division (PSD) is
seeking a seasoned professional who is self-reliant and motivated in
providing investigative, intelligence, and protective services for the
Secretary of Transportation. PLEASE NOTE: This vacancy may be used to
fill similar positions within 90 days for this location.
Responsibilities As a Protective Service Specialist, you will: * Serve
as an authority and specialist in providing protection both domestically
and internationally, and independently takes decisive and immediate
action in emergency situations requiring innovative solutions. * Act as
liaison officer and coordinate activities between Office of the
Secretary and external agency organizations. * Serve as a key advisor
responsible for independent and extensive investigation of threat
information and the coordination of intelligence and information
gathering activities regarding the Secretary and other high ranking
Department officials. * Review and analyze threat information and
initiates and coordinate protective intelligence activities follow up
investigations with other appropriate federal, state, and local law
enforcement agencies. * Conduct unique and sensitive high-level
investigations. These investigations require extra sensitivity and
special handling. * Prepare reports and other documents relating to
special investigations and make oral presentations on investigative
findings to the Special Agent In-Charge, Protective Service Division,
and the Director. Travel Required 50% or less - Frequent travel is

addition to the GS-12) , you must have one year of specialized
experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, which includes following: *
Experience using a range of security concepts, principles, and practices
to independently review, analyze, and resolve security problems.

AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps
build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide
