Closing Date: Aug 10, 2018 Salary Level/Range: $67,101 - $98,634 Proposed Starting Date: Immediate Job Summary: The Division of House Security provides a centralized location to facilitate the transmittal of all security clearances, background investigations, and control of classified documents for the U.S. House of Representatives and administers the SCIF area used for classified briefings. The Area Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining an excellent level of personnel and physical security for the Division of House Security SCIF spaces. The Area Security Specialist reports to the Director and Assistant Director of House Security. Duties Include : Greets and assists incoming visitors. Schedules briefings and meetings to include verifying clearances of attendees and briefers, providing an access list, verifying identities, and controlling classified information created or provided for the briefings. Maintains SCIF scheduling database. Responsible for room set-up for briefings. Assist Special Security Officer with security programs to include Operation Security, Foreign Travel, Insider Threat and Safe management. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Work Experience & Education : Bachelors degree. Minimum one year office experience. Must possess a Secret security clearance and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and SCI clearance. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities : Knowledge of policies and procedures of the House of Representatives and United States Capitol Police; excellent oral communications skills; strong written communications skills; strong organizational skills; strong computer skills; detail oriented; professional telephone manner; ability to listen carefully and respond in a tactful and courteous manner to requests and inquiries from Members of Congress, congressional staff, official business visitors, and the general public; ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional and courteous work disposition; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the Congressional community; ability to maintain and troubleshoot office equipment to include telephones, copiers, and fax machines; ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary. Must be able to pass a criminal history records check and pre-employment drug screen. Work Schedule : 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday; occasional evening hours and/or weekends as needed.
