    Description & Requirements

    We are seeking a VoIP Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our Voice over IP (VoIP) systems, with a focus on Cisco Unified Communications technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing Cisco VoIP solutions to ensure high-quality voice services and seamless communication. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the broader communication needs.

    This position is hybrid, requiring the hire to work in an office in either Pittsburgh, PA, or Morgantown, WV, for some of the time.

    Job-Specific Minimum Responsibilities:

    • Design, configure, and deploy Cisco VoIP solutions, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Jabber, Rey Sky E-911 and Cisco Contact Center solutions.
    • Plan and implement VoIP infrastructure upgrades ensuring scalability.
    • Integrate VoIP systems with existing network infrastructure, including SIP trunks, analog voice gateways, and PSTN connectivity.
    • Monitor and maintain VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and call quality.
    • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to maintain security and functionality.
    • Configure and manage Cisco IP phones, softphones, and related endpoints.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve VoIP-related issues, including call routing, voice quality, and connectivity problems.
    • Optimize QoS (Quality of Service) policies to prioritize voice traffic and ensure low latency and jitter.
    • Ensure VoIP systems adhere to security best practices, including encryption, access controls, updates, and firewall configurations.
    • Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures for knowledge sharing and training.
    • Lead or contribute to VoIP-related projects, such as system migrations, new site deployments, or technology upgrades.

    Job-Specific Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens without dual citizenship. Additionally, candidates will be required to successfully pass a government-sponsored clearance for a position of Public Trust.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco VoIP technologies, including CUCM, Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Voice Gateways.
    • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-level VoIP systems.
    • Strong knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323, MGCP) and codecs (G.711, G.729).
    • Proficiency in configuring Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and voice gateways for VoIP environments.
    • Understanding of network technologies, including VLANs, QoS, DHCP, DNS, and firewalls.
    • Experience with troubleshooting tools like Wireshark or Cisco CDR analysis.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    Job-Specific Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience with Teams Phone integration, Teams calling plans and related items
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration or Voice.
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration.

    Pay Transparency

    Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
