The Opportunity: This Social Service Specialist 3 is responsible for performing intake support for the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, in the Sky Valley office in the following areas: Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) o Child Protective Services (CPS) o Child and Family Welfare Services (CFWS) o Family Reconciliation Services (FRS) Division of Licensed Resources (DLR) o DLR/CPS allegations o Licensing complaints Crisis call management for End Harm line o Adult protective services (APS) o Assistance to callers inquiring about Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Crisis call management for Foster Parent and Caregiver Support Line o Caregiver support o Child pick-up request o Business/Licensing concerns Some of what you'll be doing: Quickly and accurately process concise, clear reports of child neglect and abuse in high volume, work environment. Assess risk, safety and protective factors to determine appropriate response and document/record in FamLink. Interview, refer and document information received including asking clarifying questions, obtaining details, using advanced critical thinking and comprehensive knowledge of policy to assess and classify the information provided. Conduct a thorough data search including but not limited to DAPS, ACES, DOH, SCOMIS, SEMS, RSO websites, reverse address/phone numbers, verifying correct identifying information of clients, family members, caregivers, and children to obtain additional pertinent information to assist in assessing risk and protective factors and determine screening decisions. Consult with supervisor on all intakes regarding children needing emergent response due to current threats of danger and risk of imminent harm. Develop resources directly associated to job functions, such as information and referral to community resources. What we are looking for: One (1) year as a Social Service Specialist 2 since July 1, 1998 OR A Master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field and two (2) years of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2 OR A Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field, and three (3) years of paid social service experience performing functions equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2. One (1) year of paid social service experience must include assessing risk and safety to children and providing direct family-centered practice services (strengthening and preserving family units). NOTE: A two (2) year Master's degree in one of the above fields that included a practicum will be substituted for one year of paid social service experience. NOTE: Employees must successfully complete the formal training course sponsored by their division within one (1) year of their appointment. In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following core competencies: Ability to meet standards for productivity and accuracy in high demand, high volume work environment. Must have strong English language writing skills, including excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Must have ability to quickly identify relevant information and document in FamLink database in clear, concise fashion. Ability to effectively communicate and comprehend with management, peers, clients, community colleagues and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the position. Current working knowledge of applicable laws, rules and policies on delivery of child protective and child welfare services within Washington State and deliver services accordingly. Ability to partner effectively with other professionals involved in the preparation of child and family prospective permanency families for transition and permanency outcome. Ability to implement risk assessment in all cases as defined by law and best practice using the agency preferred risk assessment model. Comfortable and creative in utilizing multiple online resources and search functions to identify participants and relevant demographics. Ability to use and knowledge of FAMLINK standards and requirements. Ability to complete work in a timely manner, following established policy and procedures regarding timeline for Emergent and Non-emergent referrals. How do I apply?
