    010-10 Program Specialist - Assessor's Office Working Title Audit/Control Program Specialist Location US-WA-Yakima Type Regular Full Time Budgeted FLSA Status Non-Exempt Department Assessor's Office Hours/Week 37.5 hours per week Required Testing/Exercises N/A Union AFSCME Local 87 Open Date 12/27/2018 Close Date 1/12/2019 Compensation $2,956 per month Overview The Yakima County Assessor's Office is seeking an Audit/Control Program Specialist.nbsp; This position is responsible for performing audit and control activities involving receiving, reviewing, processing, monitoring, and approving of a variety of documents, responding to operational questions and inquiries regarding the exemption status of real property accounts, auditing requests for exemption from Property tax, and entering accounts payable and payroll. This recruitment may be used to fill any additional positions that open within 90 dyas of the closing date of this recruitment. nbsp; This position is within the AFSCME Local 87 Bargaining Unit. nbsp; Responsibilities Audit, verify, and process exemption application accepted by the Assessorrsquo;s Office so they can then be sent to the County Treasurer for reduction or refund of property tax if warranted. These exemptions include Senior Citizens/Disabled Persons, Current Use/Farm amp; Agriculture, Destroyed Properties, State Department of Revenue granted, Manifest Errors, Native American, Tribal property used for Government Purposes, Home Improvement, State Levy Exemption, Historical Designation, and Water conservation/improvement. Maintain, verify, and update property account information. Make changes to property records via merges and segregations. Process ownership changes to real amp; personal property accounts. Reviews the work of clerical staff. Monitors work, ensuring resources are available for operations. Research, investigate and analyze historical information to assist the public. Serves as LAN (Local Area Network) Liaison for the department. Enters payroll for department and orders supplies. Performs other duties as required, including duties of a lower level classification. Qualifications Associate's Degreenbsp;in Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Construction Management, Auditing, Quality Assurance or a related field and two years of job related experience in accounting, engineering or construction and one year of working with the public; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Requirements (At Entry): Valid WA State Driver's License and proof of insurance, if requested Preferred Qualifications (At Entry): Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Equipment Used: Computer, calculator, copier, scanner, and multi-line phone.
