The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Assures that there is a completed, relevant Admission nursing assessment, from which Nursing interventions and input is provided into the Treatment Care Planning process Oversees the medication administration process to assure compliance with hospital policy and procedure, including certification of licensed nursing staff to administer medications Monitors that correct nursing care procedures are in effect and are being carried out by all nursing staff Assures that audits required by nursing service and the Program Management are completed and summarized monthly and quarterly Assures all Programs nursing care staff are adequately trained in all aspects of nursing documentation Have sufficient computer skills to write reports, input data and extract data for necessary reports to monitor the quality of nursing services Coordinates responses to life threatening medical emergency situations Assures that nursing staff are trained and Public Health procedures are carried out by staff as required to protect patients and staff from infection and disease Visits each unit in the Program at least daily Monitors restrained and/or secluded patients daily Assures that documentation and Nursing Interventions for current treatment care plans are in place Serves as a resource person and consultant to all hospital personnel In order to be considered for this job vacancy, you must satisfy one of the following requirements: 1. Have obtained previous employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. Or II Experience: One year of experience performing the duties of a nursing classification comparable in level of responsibility to a Registered Nurse, Range B, in a California developmental center or State hospital working with developmentally or mentally disabled persons. Or III Experience: One year of experience directing the nursing services of a developmental center or State hospital level-of-care unit during an eight-hour shift working with developmentally or mentally disabled persons. *If it is determined that an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the applicants name may be removed from the eligibility list. Working Conditions This Health Services Specialist will be assigned to the Central Nursing Services (CNS) office and report to the Assistant Coordinator of Nursing Services (ACNS). The HSS daily assignment will fluctuate between the CNS office, Nursing Office of the Day(NOD), and/or Clinical Programs as determined by the Assistant Coordinator of Nursing Servies(ACNS). Assignments may include the Enhanced Treatment Program (EPT).
