    Major Duties

    • Composes correspondence on administrative support or clerical functions of the office (i.e. correcting errors in reporting leave, overtime requests, ordering regulations, etc.).
    • Types a variety of correspondence such as letters, memoranda, systems documentation, messages, planning documents, assemble data, and prepares a variety of reports.
    • Performs personnel duties related to ATTAPS timecards processing, internal personnel action request forms for recruitments, reassignments, promotions, details, etc.
    • Maintains personnel roster and utilization of overtime hours for processing into ATTAPS and submits corrections to personnel timecards and leave accounting.
    • Manages the operational supplies and equipment account and takes action to prepare and submit requests for procurement of supplies and equipment.
    • Response to routine/non-technical requests for information such as: status of reports, overtime requirements, leave status of employees; material handling equipment and vehicles meter tracking, status of open work orders, etc.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an Administrative Assistant (OA) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Data gathering techniques, and the ability to compile and present data for review. Conduct studies and fact-finding surveys and present findings in a clear and understandable manner. Understand, use, and maintain directories, personnel listings, and other guides and references. Communicate, clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. B. Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. C. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
