    Major Duties

    • Provides direct support to numerous global and retail customers, site program managers, and local customers through subordinate supervisors, employees, and contractors.
    • Directs and manages the work of the Continuing Government Activity, oversight of the service provider responsibilities.
    • Responsible for the implementation and management of the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan.
    • Analyzes and modifies plans, programs and objectives, and recommends major changes to ensure the best possible level of support to the customer.
    • Manages the coordination and integration of modalities such as, supply, maintenance, procurement, contract surveillance, transportation, inventory management, and quality assurance.
    • Manages the facilities and property management, production control, as well as safety, security, and disposal.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Distribution Facilities Manager, your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must be at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Assures responsibility for distribution, storage, and transportation management and is involved with the overall DOD logistics systems, DSS, and the overall DLA distribution system. Provides technical oversight for and monitors the Service Provider, who provides distribution support for the major military activities within the area and supports the military missions carried out by the host facility and the like. Develops administrative plans and procedures and to serve as the primary on-site technical authority on distribution management. B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. May require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as record boxes, and supplies. This requires above average agility and dexterity. Work Environment: Employee is required, on a regular and recurrent basis, to visit warehouses, open storage sites, and other storage environments. During these visits employees are exposed to high noise and high or adverse weather conditions. Employee may be required to use protective equipment and follow special precautions when within some storage locations.
