    Major Duties

    • Responsible for properly digitizing design, selecting the proper color thread to reproduce colors indicated on guide, and ensuring final output matches requirements on blueprints.
    • Keeps design files organized on computer, USB stick.
    • Makes clear, concise, hard copy design files.
    • Maintains machine daily; cleaning, changing needles as needed and oiling as required.
    • Responsible for producing custom designed military flags and certificates utilizing intricate hand and machine embroidery.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an Embroidery Digitizer/ Embroidery Machine Operator, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as hand embroidering a large variety of very intricate designs and patterns on colors and standards including flags. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be found well-qualified as an ICTAP applicant, individuals need to demonstrate the ability to perform the common tasks of the job to be filled as well as more complex duties such as: Digitize drawings precisely using correct colors, details with input from Supervisor; Keep design files organized on computer; USB stick; Make clear, concise, hard copy design files to include pictures, instructions for flag to include color chart-order of design run-addition of letters-scrolls appliques and any other element required on flag; Keep tools in good condition, including frames-needles-scissors-pencils-any elements needed to produce quality embroidery; Communicate clearly to sewing machine operator any assistance needed to make flag; and Clean finish work before passing to machine operator
