    Major Duties

    • Serves as a General Supply Specialist in the Distribution Operations Division, Directorate of Distribution Operations, Defense Distribution Center.
    • Responsible for performing studies, analysis, and evaluation of DLA Distribution Site’s operating processes and procedures affecting Inventory Integrity and Accountability mission and functions.
    • Develops, coordinates, operating, evaluates operations, and ensures implantation of new guidelines and procedures related to depot operations.
    • Provide technical advice and guidance to operating level personnel regarding the interpretation of material management regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Provides guidance to Managers and functional/technical Distribution Center (DC) personnel by responding to problems and formulating plans for corrective actions on supply distribution processes and procedures
    • Direct impact on the Inventory Integrity and Accountability functions and operations.
    • Provides guidance in the material management as it involves inventory control, material accountability, transaction reconciliation, item data maintenance, and location surveys, with Item Managers from Major Subordinate Command (MSC).
    • Monitors inventory statistics, analyzes trends, identifies problems, and develops recommendations for improvement.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Experience with monitoring inventory statistics, analyzing trends, identifying problems, and developing recommendations for improvement; - Applying analytical techniques in evaluating problems, making recommendations, and formulating plans for corrective actions on inventory and stock surveillance issues; and - Providing technical advice, assistance, and guidance on matters pertaining to policy, procedure, performance standards, and monitoring techniques. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
