Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Government Information Specialist, your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: - Provides guidance to stakeholders on the life cycle of physical and electronic records ensuring compliance with Federal Records Act requirements and DoD policies such as, Federal Records Center (FRC) holdings, coordinating moratoria and record freezes, processing notices of destruction (NOD), and tracking unauthorized destruction or loss of records. - The incumbent supports the leadership in overseeing the RIM policy review program ensuring agency policies, manuals, handbooks, forms, agreements, and governance documents align with RIM standards and assisting with the interpretation and implementation of policies, conducts agency forms reviews, and ensures forms are properly prescribed and included in the DLA records schedule with appropriate disposition instructions - Collaborates on the design and implementation of Government information internal controls, conducts compliance audits and reviews, provides training on compliance issues, and provides recommendations to management for enhancing control environments and minimizing risks. Collaborates with stakeholders identifying and implementing corrective actions to control deficiencies, and promotes a culture of accountability, integrity, and ethical behavior. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
