    Major Duties

    • As a Human Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits), you will be responsible for the following duties:
    • Serves as a Senior Human Resources Advisor to the Supervisory Production Manager for employee benefits training and production.
    • Responsible for benefits training and ensuring metrics are being met for the Department of Defense Agencies.
    • Supports administrative programs to include Health Benefits, Life Insurance, Retirement, Thrift Savings and Federal Financial Literacy Program.
    • Serves as senior specialist in benefits discipline to a staff that provides human resources services to a broad range of Department of Defense agencies.
    • Performs analysis utilizing an expert understanding of key business requirements, knowledge of human resources occupations, customer missions and operations.
    • Develops and manages an evaluation system to assess the current, new and /or expanded human resources programs.
    • Develops presentations/briefings in support of metrics analysis for use by Team Managers in support of metrics improvement and troubleshooting.
    • Develops and provides related training and materials for the organization staff.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Human Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Serving as a Human Resources Advisor for Federal civilian employee benefits training. Assisting in data collection for organization metrics and identifying production and metric measures. Interpreting guidance and providing training and advice as a subject matter expert on Federal civilian benefits programs. Interpreting and preparing information for employees and developing guidance for use by benefits specialists. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
