    Major Duties

    • Installation of Enterprise database software and the creation, configuration, instantiation or decommissioning of database instances for support of DLA business programs, and Enterprise infrastructure initiatives for migration/consolidation efforts.
    • Perform software and database security and bug fix patching and upgrades. Configure database software monitoring and auditing. Ensure all security vulnerabilities are mitigated and reported.
    • Configure Database High Availability, Data and Network Encryption, Redundancy, Replication and Contingency Plans and Operations.
    • Perform database backup and recovery operations, diagnose and troubleshoot system and database issues; perform log file analysis and recommend performance tuning for optimal operations.
    • Work performed in support of 24x7 Enterprise operations utilizing approved Enterprise tools.
    • Document and review Security Compliancy (STIGs), participate in Auditing and inspection.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (DATAMGT/INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: High level of knowledge in the installation and configuration of commercially approved and supported Enterprise Database Software primarily Oracle and Microsoft SQL relational database systems; provides expert coordination with application development entities to ensure all database configuration remains security compliant and audit ready. Experienced in Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), data-pump export, flash recovery and Oracle Enterprise (OEM) software tools. Working experience with vendor and third party toolsets and programming languages (i.e. SQLPlus, PL/SQL, T-SQL). Resolves all problems associated with Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) compliance; performs System Readiness Reviews (SRR) scans on databases and resolves or identifies vulnerabilities for the creation of Program Organization and Milestones (POA&Ms) for any open vulnerabilities requiring additional time to resolve. Diagnose, troubleshoot and remediate incidents and work requests to ensure database system availability and application system operations are functioning within business program service level agreements. B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
