Qualification Summary
To be considered for a Recent Graduate appointment you must meet ONE of the following requirements: - A person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment -OR- - A person who has completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service of more than four years, and was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of the appointment. In addition to meeting the Recent Graduate eligibility requirements, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service interprets/clarifies, investigates, isolates and resolves issues affecting the security and constant reliability of systems/ applications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. B. Education Substitution: Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx. If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation. To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess: bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on ONE of the following: (1) class standing (upper third standing in graduating class); -or- (2) grade-point average (2.95 or higher overall or over the last two years of bachelor's degree -or- 3.45 in major field or over the last two years in major); -or-(3) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Your degree must be in the following: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. -OR C. Have completed at least one (1) full year of graduate education from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. Additionally, you must have a degree in the following: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
