    Major Duties

    • Serves as a technical specialist in computer systems security and Risk Management Framework(RMF) documentation and is responsible for both hardware and software projects assigned to the Program Management Office (PMO).
    • Recommends and participates in the implementation of standard operating procedures, software, network and controls for various computer systems to ensure appropriate levels of security.
    • Responsible for protection measures such as file access controls, software and physical safeguards, and project accreditation documentation creation and review.
    • Assists in the review and evaluation of existing software and procedures.
    • Formulates Test Plans or Test and Evaluation Plans in accordance with current DoW regulations relating to automated information systems.
    • Ensures test plans and reports document all vulnerabilities, mitigations and remediations.
    • Accomplishes accreditation and certification packages in accordance with agency requirements and time frames.
    • Reengineers recalibrates and modernizes systems such as the PMO SharePoint site.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: -Understands current automated information systems security developments and Risk Management Framework Policies as they relate to hardware, systems software, telecommunications, and systems design and development techniques to provide advice and guidance on issues such as alternative security packages, their acquisition, and use. -Recognizes computer systems security requirements in sufficient depth to advise on and implement, environmental control measures, network and software controls, risk assessment and quantitative justification of physical security controls, backup and recovery for the data processing installation and telecommunications systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
