    Major Duties

    • Serves as an Information Technology Specialist responsible to administer the DLA Enterprise Land Mobile Radio System (ELMR).
    • Exercises a high degree of technical judgment in customer service, problem resolution, network design, network configuration, establishing, interpreting and applying DOD policy for the data communications portion.
    • Advises Information Operations, staff and management, on new developments and technology, and makes recommendations, including planning and implementing long-range designs, to keep the ELMR operational and up-to-date.
    • Serves as project manager on assigned projects, responsibilities include: providing timely and thorough status reporting to clients; maintaining awareness of DLA's changing priorities and making adjustments to support current priorities
    • Has broad operational responsibility to troubleshoot, diagnose telecommunications and ADP, hardware/software and network problems which are part of the nationwide ELMR and local Radio voice networks.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (NETWORK), your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Performs research to determine technical solutions for problems associated with the data communications and ADP systems hardware portion of the network that consists of host systems peripherals, client servers, modems, multiplexers, Wide Area Radio Trunking Systems, IP routers, switches, gateways, firewalls, encryption devices, data circuits and dial-up telephone lines. Telecommunication/RF Radio and enhanced system technology identification, design and test. Analyze and identify communications and systems problems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
