    Major Duties

    • Serves as technical consultant and liaison to network and other IT management and staffs throughout the DLA and DoD on the DLA network environment and on networks in general.
    • Provides technical guidance, analysis, advice, and assistance on a wide range of complex problems.
    • Provides network interconnections among various wide area networks and local area network enclaves.
    • Provides assessments to include reports of technical findings and recommendations to the appropriate DLA and DISA staff.
    • Works with IT personnel and network specialists at other DLA sites to isolate problems and recommend solutions for both the short and long term.
    • Participates and conducts briefings and demonstrations for DLA and private sector representatives.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (NETWORK/INFOSEC), your qualifications must include: A. One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Plans, schedules and participates in network hardware/software testing, deployments, implementations, and service allocations, to include performing liaison functions with IT personnel and network specialists at other DLA sites Develops and/or modifies test plans, conducts tests, analyzes test results with respect to the acceptance plan for new or modified hardware and software for the ETN. Determines course of action to isolate and identity problem sources Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
