    Major Duties

    • Provides Windows server administration of enterprise level hardware and system software in support of DLA’s information systems (IS) environment.
    • Provides enterprise level Windows server administration that includes the support for a variety of purposes including security, data/file server, and office administration.
    • Plans, designs and carries out research and evaluation of next generation Microsoft Windows server operating systems.
    • Develops solutions and alternatives for Microsoft Windows server systems and software design (i.e. augmentation of existing equipment, integrating interacting systems, etc.) that identify configurations that will correct weaknesses.
    • Isolates, identifies, analyzes, evaluates, and resolves complex hardware, software and/or communications problems.
    • Provides technical guidance, analysis, advice, and troubleshooting/problem resolution on a wide range of extremely complex operational problems that impact DLA enterprise operations.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Evaluating new releases/new versions to identify changes, enhancements, and other differences between new releases/new versions of operating systems and current Microsoft Windows operating system(s). - Evaluating methods, techniques, or procedures designed to improve overall mid- tier/desktop efficiency and operation and recommend adoption/modification. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
