Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Instructional Development Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Basic Requirement: A Bachelor's Degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. Applicants MUST submit a copy of their official college transcripts from an accredited educational institution which reflects that a Bachelor's degree was conferred and the date conferred. Failure to submit your transcripts will result in lost consideration. OR A combination or education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess: -GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. -GS-12: There is not an education substitution at this level. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-11: Assisting project manager in providing consultative and advisory services on matters of Instructional Design and project funding. Assisting in the planning, needs assessment, coordination, design, development, organization, evaluation/testing, reporting, briefing, and implementation of instructional systems, strategies, technologies, and services. Assisting in communicating changes and trends in adult learning, instructional design, and use of emerging technologies. GS-12: Participating with the project manager in providing consultative and advisory services on matters of Instructional Design and project funding. Conducting and participating in the planning, needs assessment, coordination, design, development, organization, evaluation/testing, reporting, briefing, and implementation of instructional systems, strategies, technologies, and services. Identifying, selecting, and implementing instructional techniques, theories and technologies to provide the agency with training. Analyzing, selecting, implementing, and communicating changes and trends in adult learning, instructional design, and use of emerging technologies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
