Major Duties

• Serves as a Contracting Directorate environmental policy analyst
• Leads a team of lower graded specialists, which are primarily responsible for providing assistance to agency field components and performing hazardous waste disposal.
• Develops, monitors, and coordinates policies and programs in support of assigned missions and functions.
• Provides environmental program guidance, training, and instruction to DRMS Environmental Specialists, military services, and other DLA activities.
• Plans, organizes, and conducts research and reviews of laws and regulation in environmental policy.
• Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, reviewing completed work to see supervisors’ instructions, priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
• Trains or arranges for training of team members in Environmental and Hazardous Waste Disposal

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Lead Environmental Protection Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Developing, monitoring, coordinating, and implementing policies and programs in support of agency missions and functions. Planning, organizing, and conducting primary research and reviews of laws and regulation as it pertains to environmental policy, laws, and regulation. Developing publications and distribution of command-wide guidance for the disposition of hazardous property. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
