    Major Duties

    • As a Lead Security Specialist you will be responsible for the following duties:
    • Serves as expert Security Specialist in the Risk Management Division, leading and tasking a specialized team executing the personnel, information, and industrial security programs supporting the full spectrum of collateral, SCI, and SAP information.
    • Participates in collaborative working groups with other DoW / USG officials regarding security and Program Protection measures for the overall protection of classified information within an operational mission space.
    • Develop and implement Program Protection Plans (PPP) across a wide variety of operational activities.
    • Develops and maintains comprehensive SOPs to ensure the proper execution of multi-discipline security programs across a diverse portfolio of facilities and activities.
    • Manages the execution of a multi-discipline security program within a complex and dynamic environment, directly supporting the Program Security Officer (PSO).
    • Collaborates with government organizations and private-sector leaders, including the White House and all branches of government, to ensure smooth security coordination and implement shared protection strategies.
    • Analyze, plan, and implement a comprehensive Operations Security (OPSEC) Program to include to include development of tailored OPSEC plans, conducting assessments, and implementing OPSEC measures.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Lead Security Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Leading program protection planning activities in support of Special Access Programs (SAPs), including applying advanced security principles to safeguard classified capabilities and information. Experience managing daily security functions associated with the protection of facilities, plans, activities, and information. This experience encompasses personnel, information, industrial, and operations security, Experience supporting complex security programs and developing effective, mission-focused solutions to security challenges. Experience exercising initiative in planning, developing, managing, implementing, reviewing, and enforcing comprehensive security programs across personnel, industrial, information, and operations security disciplines. Experience leading an experienced team or serving as a technical expert in interagency study groups to resolve issues in existing security systems, policies, or programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
