    Major Duties

    • Resolves high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with DLA activities.
    • Monitors applicable metrics and works with customer facing leads to continually ensure progress is on track for and consistent with the customer's portion of the Service Level Agreements and Secondary Service Level Agreements.
    • Reviews agency performance and customer readiness reports for short and long-term problems in overall support.
    • Authorizes interim deviations from procedures and recommends alternate courses of action in resolving problems critical to current logistics requirements.
    • Serves as the primary communications link and logistics systems functional integrator for agency support to military service weapons systems and other logistics program needs.
    • Determines the effectiveness of agency logistics support, including service and supply programs, discussing, reviewing, and making detailed analysis of internal procedures and support.
    • Coordinates directly with top-level Department of Defense military and civilian personnel of major commands, installations, and activities.
    • Makes logistical assessments of agency support in coordination with the supported commands to determine status, feasibilities, efficiencies, trends, corrective, and preventive measures for improving unit, command, center readiness and sustainability.
    • Determines underlying causes of deficiencies to identify logistics problem areas, isolates sources of problems, and takes corrective measures by reviewing interpretation and application of agency and customer processes.
    • Provides logistics training in DLA systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to customers on the role DLA plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Providing status of critical or key mission or principal items to provide improved service to the customer Monitoring trends in logistics systems performance. Preforming ongoing strategic analysis across agency activities and recommends solutions for improvements. Advises commanders and military services program manager of new and pending changes in the agency policies and procedures, alerting them to the projected impact on logistics operation, planning and support and areas of emphasis required to ensure continuity of operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
