    Major Duties

    • Provides expert advice and technical guidance to direct the design, development, execution, and dissemination of concepts of operation and logistical supportability analyses for operational and contingency plans.
    • Identifies and resolves operational shortfalls, limitations and other conditions impacting the agency’s capability to perform assigned wartime and contingency logistics support missions.
    • Advises senior officials of support issues that impact Agency support to the Warfighter.
    • Interprets DOD, DLA and supported Combatant Commander Policy and guidance as they affect operational, contingency, exercise, and support planning.
    • Represents DLA Land and Maritime in planning and executing MSC participation in worldwide and regional exercises related to warfighting, contingencies, mobilization, and emergency operations.
    • Collects, evaluates, and assesses Major Subordinate Command (MSC) performance during exercises and/or contingency operations to use as a basis for improving and revising Agency doctrine, directives, instructions, or support plans.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applying a wide range of principles, theories, and processes of management when working with various directorates and staff. Applying analytical and statistical techniques to gather, analyze, and assess the effectiveness and quality of complex logistics support plans, contingency plans, and/or operational plans. Preparing and presenting findings and recommendations, express specific actions leading to negotiations and/or the resolution of controversial issues, and/or selling or implementing new ideas and concepts. Employing problem solving techniques and process improvement approaches to be able to plan, coordinate, and advise on complex activities, to form action plans and accurately gauge management decisions and actions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
