Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Maintenance Mechanic Leader, WL-4749-10, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision (SOE): Instruct other workers on less complex work methods; refer to manuals as a means in answering questions related to the duties and responsibilities of the position; and adhere to all safety standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be found well-qualified as an ICTAP applicant, individuals need to demonstrate the ability to perform the common tasks of the job to be filled as well as more complex duties such as, providing instructions to employees on work procedures; interpret standard operating procedures; assure that tools, materials plans and blueprints are available to complete work assignments; and assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Physical Effort: Must be capable of working from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms in cramped or hard-to-get places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Handles materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally over 75 pounds. Must be capable of wearing all safety equipment and personal protective clothing required to perform assigned tasks. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, in cold damp, dust warehouses, crawl spaces, etc. incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, broken bones, etc., while performing work.
