    Major Duties

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the physical security program, to include standardized guidelines and procedures, development and training standards for DLA personnel.
    • Management of security reviews, vulnerability assessments and initiatives, with oversite of security projects coordinating with appropriate DoD Agencies and Military Services.
    • Advise Senior Officials on issues relating to security, its affects on Agency operations and supply chain security, and identification and protection of critical assets.
    • Analyze requirements and prepare procedures to counter risk vulnerabilities and DLA field activities worldwide.
    • Prepare updates and briefings to senior-level executives regarding security programs.
    • Provide protection measures which are not limited to physical security measures and may encompass other security and emergency disciplines.
    • Review Military Construction (MILCONS) plans and other new DLA facility plans or renovations to existing facilities to ensure security systems and issues are addressed and incorporated into plans.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Physical Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Utilize security concepts and practices within physical security and risk management programs; Participate in security surveys, inspections, and assessment program management; Identify state-of-the-art intrusion detection and asset protection systems; Develop security considerations as a function of construction and acquisition planning and execution; Administering standard security regulations, practices, and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
