    Major Duties

    • Responsible for program management, planning/evaluation, policy development and issuance, and oversight of the physical security and antiterrorism programs.
    • Manages the security awareness training for all Installation Support personnel.
    • Conduct physical security inspections/surveys, manage centralized physical security initiatives, oversight of physical security projects, and coordination with appropriate local, State, Federal and DoD agency and military services.
    • Conducts site visits to all field activities to conduct physical security surveys and inspections, vulnerability, threat, and risk assessments.
    • Prepares updates and briefings for senior DLA Installation leaders and senior-level executives assigned to tenant units regarding the Physical Security Program.
    • Participates in anti-terrorism vulnerability assessments, makes recommendations for improvement and advises the Chief, Security and Emergency Services on correction of vulnerabilities.
    • Assists with the development of Antiterrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD ), Disaster Response, Installation Evacuation Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Physical Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Advises and assists activities on security and intelligence programs, plans and policies. Maintains security education and awareness training and facilitates support for security initiatives. Conducts site visits to all field activities to conduct physical security surveys, inspections, vulnerability, threat, and risk assessments. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
