    Major Duties

    • f selected at the GS-07 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity
    • Schedules, tracks, bills, reconciles, and controls the repair and rebuild of Industrial Plant Equipment (IPE) containing a variety of components or subassemblies.
    • Participates with management, Project Manager, Planner/Estimator, and Quality Assurance Specialist in the initial inspection of IPE to determine feasibility of repair/rebuild.
    • Computes cost based on historical data, catalogs, specifications, prints and data governing fabrication or repair/rebuild operations
    • Assigns workload for machines considering such factors as size, complexity, current workload, facilities and workers’ skills.
    • Prepares a variety of reports on money spent, man hours, completion dates, parts status, and timelines to provide status, justification, and solutions on any problems which occurred.
    • Maintains a Government Purchase Card (GPC) in order to purchase parts and services to facilitate the rebuild of IPE

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Production Controller, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-07 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-06 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-09: - Budgeting, scheduling, progress reporting and cost control for production operations - Analyzing man-hours usage, reimbursable costs incurred, parts shortages, and other production data - Resolving production scheduling problems GS-07: - Assisting in scheduling the inspection and repair of equipment - Reviewing catalogs, specifications and/or other data to assist in computing costs - Monitoring production schedules and deadlines B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
