    Major Duties

    • Responsible for the successful execution of all team functions to ensure the timely completion of required team responsibilities, including completing compliance testing and responding to audit requests.
    • Provides supervisory oversight to accounting and financial operations staff to meet managerial systems and reporting requirements.
    • Ensures team operations comply with agency policy, quality and auditability requirements, laws and regulations and DLA mandates.
    • Collaborates with other DLA Finance and functional offices in the development and implementation of process changes related to financial operations.
    • Provides guidance and directions on accounting and finance practices, processes, and procedures for implementation by the accounting/finance staff to meet the letter and intent of the Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Act -
    • - Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) Guidance, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and DoD financial management policies and initiatives.
    • Provides accounting and financial operation oversight, including the review, reconciliation, corrections, and validation of DLAs financial data pertaining to the financial statements.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supervisory Accountant, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Provide input, direction, and information related to accounting functions, audit readiness activities, and other financial services. Perform studies and analysis about how to improve existing financial processes. Assess risk associated with processes and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risks. Analyze and test existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
