Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Supervisory - Chemist/Textile Technologist your resume and supporting documentation must support the Basic Requirements for the 1320 AND/OR 1384 series AND the required specialized experience: Basic Requirements for Chemist, 1320 series: A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR B.Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience, or additional education. Basic Requirements for Textile Technologist, 1384 series: A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's orhigher degree in textile technology. OR B .Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in textile technology that included at least 20semester hours in textile technology and closely related subjects, plus appropriate experience, or additional education. Specialized Experience: In addition to the Basic Requirement, one year of specialized experience is required that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Providing quality assurance support by verifying acceptability of items through physical and chemical tests and analyses. Developing and evaluating physical and chemical methods used to perform analysis of difficult, complex and unusual samples. Adapting or modifying established methods and procedures for the analysis of a wide variety of samples for which there are no specific testing methods or precedents available. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
