    Major Duties

    • Serves as a Director of a Forward Distribution Point and will be responsible for one or more of the following operations.
    • Shipping, Warehousing, Receiving, Kitting, Packing, Consolidation and Containerization Process, Transportation and Traffic Management, Customer Support, Material Processing Center, or Special Functions.
    • Plans, directs, and supervises all activities of the organization, primarily involved in receiving, handling, storing, maintaining while in storage, kitting, issuing, and physically controlling materials within a storage and distribution system.
    • Responsible for directing the work of a large distribution organization and is held accountable for the success of meeting goals.
    • Responsible for the progress of the organization toward meeting goals through periodically evaluating and making appropriate adjustments.
    • Makes or recommends organization changes which have considerable impact, such as those involving organization budget operating cost, and key positions
    • Conducts studies of and evaluates relationships between customer support requirements, storage, inventory, material issues, and delivery, by the most efficient and economical means.
    • Applies analytical techniques in evaluating problems and makes recommendations for corrective action and formulates strategic plans on distribution issues.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Analyzing trends, identifying problems, and developing recommendations for improvements related to supply distribution operations. Determining internal goals and developing plans for distribution organizations independently of or jointly with higher management. Directing distribution facility work operations based on priorities, difficulty, and the capabilities of the employees. B. Education Substitution: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
