Major Duties

• Serve as the Assistant Fire Chief with supervisory and management oversight responsibilities to develop, plan, update, coordinate, conduct and monitor organizational/installation technical services programs (Continued on next)
• (Cont.) and training concerning fire suppression, specialized rescue, hazardous material, Emergency Medical, Disaster Preparedness Services, Fire Prevention and Public Education Programs.
• Supervise subordinate employees and provides guidance in the development, implementation and delivery of technical services training, prevention, and public education programs for installation personnel.
• Ensure building and facility pre-plans, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, water distribution systems (fire hydrants), life safety features and extinguishers are up-to-date and properly maintained.
• Review building plans, scope(s) of work, and design of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems to ensure compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria, DOD/DLA regulations as well as nationally recognized standards such as (Continued on Next)
• (Cont.) those promulgated by organizations like the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
• Respond to emergency incidents and assumes immediate control until relieved by Assistant Fire Chief for Emergency Operations or the Fire Chief.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Supervisory Fire Protection Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Developing and managing a Fire and Emergency Services training program. Performing fire prevention and life safety inspections. Determining proper emergency response/equipment needs in an emergency situation. Reviewing plans and applying proper codes according to regulatory requirements. AND SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Department of Defense (DoD) 6055.06-M, "Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program" identifies the level of performance required for all DoD Fire and Emergency Services personnel. The certifications listed below are the minimum mandatory certification requirements for this position.
