Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Supervisory Police Officer, your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-07: Assigns officers their individual assignments to ensure their understanding and comprehension of responsibilities and duties. Assists in briefing the shift on pertinent information, scheduled or expected events, and criminal information in a "roll call" setting. Assists the change of shifts and ensures the proper posting/ dispatching of officers, Reviews all reports and records prepared by shift personnel to assure reports are written in a timely manner. Discusses with subordinates alternate methods in handling situations more effectively. GS-08: Discusses with personnel their individual assignments to ensure their understanding and comprehension of responsibilities and duties of assignment. Notes and records actions taken, obtains additional facts and information and discusses with subordinates alternate methods in handling situation more effectively. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
