    Major Duties

    • Implements reverse logistics solutions; plans efficient, cost-effective flow of spare materials, in process inventory and related information from when property is declared as excess to disposition to recapture value or ensure compliant disposal.
    • Advises and guides agencies and/or holding activities on the interpretation and use of disposal policies.
    • Collaborates closely with customers to determine short and long-term requirements, as well as develop, execute and continually refine those specific customer needs.
    • Evaluates and recommends actions to accommodate unique constraints, concerns or desires of various Military Commands or customers.
    • Prepares or demonstrates capabilities of newly automated disposal methods, operational processes and techniques.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supervisory Property Disposal Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Disposing of property through reutilization, transfer, donation, sales, abandonment, and/or destruction or removal via service contract. Monitoring supplies/services provided to customers, validating that established customer support goals are met, and noting areas of improvement. Analyzing business-based performance measures and developing new solutions and recommendations to enhance services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Performance of work may require frequent visits to generator collection points and areas, and inspections of DispSvcs warehousing facilities and observing customer/contractor on site operations, which requires extended walking and standing. Performs moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or hand-truck. Maybe required to operate a variety of forklift trucks varying in capacity from 2,000 - 15,000 pounds, to move, load and unload, stack or unstack palletized materials, supplies and equipment from point of pick up to designated location. Work Environment: Performing site work involves risks and discomforts such as: long hours; handling of property at forward receiving facilities; exposure to hazardous or toxic material or waste; and/or exposure to adverse weather conditions during visits to customers to evaluate or assess inventory. Work may also involve moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precaution, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; with contagious diseases or irritant chemicals; etc. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles or shields.
