    Major Duties

    • Serves as the Installation Security Officer and principal adviser to the Installation Site Director, Installation Commander, tenant Commanders/Managers, and installation senior officials and their staffs.
    • Manages the installation’s Security and Emergency Services programs to include but not limited to Antiterrorism/Force Protection; Physical Security; Installation Emergency Management.
    • Oversees the activities of a 24-hour, 7 day a week armed police force as well as a fully manned fire station.
    • Ensures installation security education and training is provided for installation employees.
    • Provides technical supervision over installation and building security activities and staff personnel.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supervisory Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: · Developing, evaluating and/or operating systems, procedures and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and/or materials. · Developing, evaluating, maintaining and/or operating systems, procedures, and methods used for fire prevention and fire protection. · Developing and maintaining the physical means which are used for protection and security. · Preparing comprehensive instructional materials, plans, organizing and conducting training to personnel on security matters. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
