Major Duties

• Investigates stock, record, and material discrepancies to identify and resolve a variety of errors affecting inventory balances.
• Conducts research into supply discrepancies by examining transaction records, catalogs, and historical data, and communicating with warehouse personnel.
• Performs physical inventory counts, location surveys, and material inspections to verify item information, quantity, and condition.
• Processes Material Release Orders (MROs), Stock Transfer Orders (STOs), and prepares corrective adjustments to rectify discrepancies.
• Researches and responds to Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) from various sources.
• Performs filing, correspondence and other clerical tasks.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Assisting with inventory functions such as conducting physical counts or location surveys. Performing basic research of supply records to identify discrepancies and responding to supply discrepancies from various sources. Using automated supply systems to track and update inventory information. or B. Education Substitution: Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx. If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation. To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess: 4 years above high school. or C. Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grade GS-05. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience at grade GS-05. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: In the performance of investigations, inventories and location surveys, the incumbent is required to research, survey and/or count all types of material, some which is heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which is stored in high-level locations. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Depending on availability of equipment and depot location, may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites. Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
