    Major Duties

    • Performs causative research to resolve critical inventory discrepancies.
    • Performs extensive research on inventory discrepancies and imbalances identified through warehouse denials, customer complaints/inquiries, physical inventory counts, location surveys, special inspections, etc.
    • Determines the causes of discrepancies and makes or coordinates appropriate adjustments to correct inventory records and documents.
    • Processes Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs), through research and resolution.
    • Performs Shelf-Life updates and Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) on stock as required.
    • Participates in evaluating and analyzing trends for inventory discrepancies.
    • Assists specialists in the analysis of automated systems and the implementation of new applications.
    • May operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and stock selectors to move material.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducting physical inventories and location surveys. Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances or Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs). Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed. B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Work is performed in office settings and warehouses. Work requires standing on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items may lift greater weights with assistance from others or using materials handling equipment. Must be capable of accomplishing emergency escape procedures from a captive aisle stock selector at heights of 40 feet and aisle mobile hybrid crane at heights of 62 feet. Work Environment: The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions such as working around moving parts, carts, or machines; exposure to adverse weather conditions; or exposure to irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, coats, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection and/or gloves. This position is being filled as Term appointment not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 Years. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Promotion, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 3 Years and may be extended up to a total of five years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade, this position will be filled as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade with the intent to be limited to the time period specified in the announcement and may be reassigned at management's discretion or made permanent at any time. Upon termination/expiration of the temporary assignment, placement will be either to the gaining or previous organization in accordance with DLA policy (DLAI 1442.04) regarding placement rights after a time-limited assignment. For all others, if selected, this would be a Term/Time-Limited Appointment NTE 3 Years, and not more than six years. The selected applicant will be required to sign a written agreement acknowledging the conditions of this temporary assignment/appointment and that they may be released from this position upon management discretion.
