    Major Duties

    • Responsible for the planning, acquisition, installation, implementation, maintenance, modification, and operation of all end-users computing equipment.
    • Performs cost analysis, feasibility studies on different models of equipment for comparative analysis of performance characteristics, updates the equipment configuration for local area network.
    • Reviews technical literature to maintain in-depth knowledge of product availability and industry trends.
    • Arranges for installation and testing of new products to determine their compatibility with existing baselines.
    • Develops, presents mission briefings, systems briefings, and systems/operational training to management, staff, and end-users as required.
    • Conducts local customer and remote site visits to ascertain existing IT capability and proposes changes in system architecture to address advances in technology or special requirements for end-users.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for an IT Specialist (OS/CUSTSPT), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Assisting end-users with access and usage problems, some of which may be quite complex trouble-shooting problem calls, assisting with the preparation and installation of new equipment, developing operating procedures, performing site surveys and configuration designs, and developing reports for use by the organization. - Technical expert in Contingency IT support, including all related software and hardware, working with little or no supervision on a routine basis. - Experience operating straight-in-line trucks, and/or truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers; and/or motor coaches. - Initiating action to resolve problems with end-to-end communications degradation, making recommendations to management for end-user computing hardware/software changes that would mitigate future degradation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
