    Major Duties

    • Serves as principal writer and editor for Defense Enterprise Data Standards Office (DEDSO) technical products...
    • ...including Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS) manuals, data standards documentation, governance guidance, and associated reference materials.
    • Supports development of clear technical documentation for business rules, data element definitions, mappings, and crosswalks, as well as technical bulletins, white papers, and implementation guides.
    • Reviews and edits draft materials from analysts and subject matter experts to ensure grammatical accuracy, style and formatting consistency, Section 508 accessibility, and compliance with DEDSO, and DoW writing standards.
    • Plans and manages document development schedules in coordination with analysts and leadership to ensure the timely publication of updates to standards and procedures.
    • Maintains version control and audit trails for all published materials, ensuring adherence to Records Management policies and that revisions are documented, approved, and effectively communicated to end users.
    • Designs templates, style guides, and workflows to support enterprise documentation needs.
    • Structuring content for digital platforms, search tools, and emerging AI technologies while standardizing internal workflows and capturing institutional knowledge to facilitate seamless operational handoffs.
    • Prepares briefing materials, infographics, and quick-reference guides to translate complex data standards concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Participates in integrated working groups and project reviews alongside analysts, system owners, and governance bodies to support DEDSO and DoW data integrity and interoperability.
    • Evaluates, implements, and maintains collaborative authoring tools and shared workspaces, conducting training to build team self-sufficiency in basic drafting and template compliance.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Technical Writer-Editor, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS- 13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Translating intricate logistics data concepts, system requirements, and policy updates into clear briefing materials, executive summaries, policy documents, and quick-reference guides; and participating in integrated working groups and project reviews to align documentation with operational requirements and enterprise interoperability goals. Designing enterprise publication workflows, master style guides, and digital templates; managing rigorous document version control, audit trails, and Records Management compliance; and structuring technical content for digital platforms, search tools, and advanced knowledge management systems. Reviewing, evaluating, and consolidating technical input from logistics analysts, IT/system owners, and subject matter experts; ensuring strict compliance with agency writing standards and compliance requirements, technical terminology, and style guidelines; and resolving complex documentation inconsistencies. Researching, authoring, editing, and maintaining complex enterprise logistics manuals, data standards documentation, business rules, white papers, and implementation guides. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be considered a well-qualified ICTAP Applicant must possess: Translates complex technical concepts into clear, compliant, and audience-appropriate publications. Designs documentation strategies and manages complex layouts, visuals, and web/multimedia integration. Utilizes advanced CMS, collaborative platforms, and data visualization software to publish authoritative assets. Leads cross-functional discussions with senior stakeholders to draft enterprise standards and policies.
