    Major Duties

    • Research and analyze a broad range of information sources to write and edit a wide range of legal documents and materials in the assigned legal practice.
    • Performs editing to finalize documents pending final attorney review and approval, where required, manages the publication and dissemination of legal information through various channels, including assigned programs.
    • Provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and staff, including filing, organizing, gathering information, preparing reports and spreadsheets, and interacting with people in and outside the Government.
    • Under supervisory guidance, provides team leadership, training, support, encouragement, and mentorship to team members and in support of DLA Troop Support's Office of Counsel’s mission.
    • Reviews preliminary legal documents, such as suspension and debarment packages or FOIA appeals, to determine what information to accept or reject prior to submission for senior leadership review.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Technical Writer - Editor (Legal Analyst), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applying legal knowledge in legal writing and editing acquired through roles as a writer or editor of technical reports, articles, manuals or specifications. Developing, writing, editing, and publishing a wide range of legal documents, translating complex legal topics into plain language while managing the final distribution of all materials. Administering key legal programs such as Ethics, FOIA, and Procurement Fraud, while providing high-level paralegal support and conducting conflict-of-interest reviews for senior officials. Conducting in-depth research on complex legal issues to advise senior leadership and using this expertise to create and deliver training materials for agency personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
