    Major Duties

    • Processes requisitions and issues items used by maintenance personnel.
    • Serves as the control and order point for all supplies maintained in the tool room.
    • Receives incoming tools, parts, and supplies from maintenance personnel.
    • Maintains powered and non-powered tools not maintained in a mechanic's toolbox.
    • Operates forklift with a lifting capacity of up to 10,000 pounds to pick up, stack, unstack, warehouse, and palletize stock in conjunction with assigned duties.

    Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: I perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision such as: orders stock on a weekly basis or as needed. Obtains authority signature from the supervisor prior to ordering. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort Work requires recurring standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting. The incumbent lifts, carries, and places materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds. Obtains assistance for heavier items. Physical effort is required to lift hand tools and equipment repair parts, push and pull dollies, handcarts and pallet jacks. Requires the physical ability to operate scooters and forklifts capable of lifting loads up to 10,000 pounds to move and transport stock. Working Conditions The work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to dirt, grease, and all types of weather. SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, as directed by the supervisor. Types of required protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: eye, respiratory, and foot protection, protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, etc.). Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audiometric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery, or equipment.
