    Major Duties

    • Serves as a key advisor responsible for staff transportation, traffic management, and systems operation programs for DLA Distribution
    • Serves as a subject matter expert for all business processes governing the management of commercial and DoD cargo and freight transportation services, payment procedures, budget development, and execution oversight for funding requirements
    • Develops transportation guidelines, business rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and job breakdown sheets (JBSs) impacting operations
    • Identifies and defends funding to support the needs of transportation operations and equipment distribution requirements that impact transportation operations
    • Implements and maintains appropriate inspections, audits, monitoring and surveillance plans to ensure the desired outcome for customer satisfaction

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Traffic Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Making presentations on traffic matters before Federal, State, or local regulatory bodies Negotiating with carriers and/or regulatory bodies on questions of rates, transit privileges and charges special services and charges thereof, and classification of commodities Conducting surveys and studies of traffic management functions, operating methods, procedures, and performance Provides functional support in the strategic development and implementation of automated programs and tools used to support the mission of traffic management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
