    Major Duties

    • Serves as a principal Troop Support Supply Chain planner, advisor, and consultant to the assigned COCOM or agency regarding logistics planning in support of DoD Executive Agent supply in classes I, II, IV, and VIII.
    • Coordinates with and advises the COCOM Planners on DLA Troop Support’s ability to enhance combat readiness through integrated application of existing logistics resources and capabilities.
    • Prepares Situation Reports (SITREPS), point papers, trip reports, and staff reports.
    • Develops and finalizes Operation Plans (OPLANs), annexes, and other related planning documentation supporting the joint planning community.
    • Evaluates theater/contingency operation plans and assesses Troop Support's supporting tasks and missions.
    • Monitors Agency planning initiatives to provide information for use by COCOM, DLA senior managers, support staff, Military Services, Federal Civilian Agencies, Foreign Allies, the Joint Staff, and top DoD officials.
    • Coordinates with functional specialists to ensure adequate provisions for manpower, supplies, equipment, and services to meet specific needs, and evaluates proposed plans for impact and support feasibility.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Troop Support Planner, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applying analytical and evaluative methods/techniques for the assessment of the effectiveness and quality of complex logistics support plans, annexes and exercise scenarios. Preparing Situation Reports (SITREPs), point papers, trip reports and staff reports. Developing draft and finalized OPLANs, annexes, and other related planning documentation supporting the joint planning community. Conducting detailed analysis of wartime requirements utilizing a variety of methods and techniques. Formulating feasibility and sustainability assessments to identify problems, recommend solutions, and direct complex studies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
