    Major Duties

    • Provides direct live support for distance learning, both in online platforms and in state-of-the-art production studios.
    • Prepares course materials for virtual delivery platform, traditional classroom, adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
    • Integrates advanced knowledge of design principles and adult learning theory with programming and multimedia skills to create functional, cohesive training products.
    • Utilizes software skills including course authoring and video production software along with graphics software, both vector and raster, to create visually appealing and effective products.
    • Transforms spoken or written descriptions of items, processes, issues, or events into visual representations without the benefit of existing pictures, models, or diagrams.
    • Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) personnel to resolve information systems issues.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Visual Information Specialist (Training Design), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Developing and delivering accessible digital training solutions for diverse audiences, ensuring effective knowledge transfer through engaging course materials designed for virtual platforms, instructor-led sessions, and computer-based training (CBT). Utilizing course authoring and video production software to create compelling learning experiences, grounded in instructional design principles and adult learning theory. Evaluating training program outcomes to optimize future development and maximize learning effectiveness. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
