Major Duties

• Integrates advanced knowledge of design principles and adult learning theory with programming and multimedia skills to create functional, cohesive training products.
• Provides direct live support for distance learning, both online platforms and in state-of-the-art production studios.
• Designs course materials for virtual delivery platform, traditional classroom, and computer-based training (CBT),adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
• Integrates advanced knowledge of design principles and adult learning theory with programming and multimedia skills to create functional, cohesive training products.
• Utilizes software skills including course authoring and video production software along with graphics software, both vector and raster, to create visually appealing and effective products.
• Transforms spoken or written descriptions of items, processes, issues, or events into visual representations without the benefit of existing pictures, models, or diagrams.
• Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) personnel to resolve information systems issues.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Visual Information Specialist (Training Design), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Managing the complete lifecycle of accessible training programs, from initial needs assessment, design, development implementation data-driven evaluation. Designing, developing, and delivering engaging digital training solutions tailored for diverse audiences across various platforms, including virtual environments, instructor-led sessions, and computer-based training (CBT). Utilizing modern course authoring and video production software to build compelling learning experiences grounded in established instructional design principles and adult learning theory. Evaluating training program outcomes through comprehensive testing and reporting, leveraging findings to drive continuous improvement and maximize learning effectiveness. Analyzing and implementing emerging trends in instructional design and educational technology to ensure the adoption of industry best practices and keep content at the forefront of the field.
