    Major Duties

    • Serves as a Weapon System Support Specialist (WSSS), in one of the DLA Customer Operations Directorates.
    • Acts as DLA Customer Advocate and dedicated Specialist providing implementing directions for DLA demand and supply chain(s) and other DLA Defense Supply Centers (DSC) support of weapon system and customer needs.
    • Assists the Weapon Systems Program Manager (WSPM) with the multi-disciplinary Integrated Process Teams consisting of members from various DLA organizations, other government entities to develop and implement strategies in support of weapon systems.
    • Serves as weapon system specialist in support of Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps and/or Joint weapon systems.
    • Serves as a customer focal point for assigned sustainment issues related to logistics, supply support, life cycle management, overhaul and maintenance of assigned weapon system platforms.
    • Works with assigned customer sites and DLA representatives to develop material and logistics sustainment requirements for assigned project workload and integrates required actions to develop recommended Weapons Systems logistics support plans.
    • Monitor DLA impact on fleet-wide Weapon System Readiness and analyzes logistics and acquisition degraders to identify problems and solutions to restore acceptable levels of support.
    • Deliver training to customers on DLA processes to support logistics life cycle efforts and product support initiatives, to include the processes of the Federal/DLA supply system.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Weapons System Support Specialist, GS-0301-12 your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Experience in supply management and logistical support functions such as supply, procurement, transportation, cataloging, provisioning, storage, and distribution. Broad understanding of the levels of repair philosophies for the military services and of how the philosophies impact material support. Understanding of the processes of the Military Service which the assigned WS Group supplies, and broad knowledge of inventory policy, procedure, automated systems and decision routines. Experience with databases and ability to extract data detailing customer behavior and Group performance relative to the behavior, and to analyze supply detractors. Experience with integrated logistics support concepts, policies and procedures including maintenance, material support, support equipment, and other integrated elements. Applying established criteria to assess/monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes and to identify areas for potential improvements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
