As an Interior Design Intern, you help our Design team create and present compelling interior space designs for our communities while managing your own projects and assignments. Roles You'll Play THE SPONGEInteract with Interior Design and Architecture professionals to build an in-depth understanding of real-world methods and challengesLearn how to analyze design objectives, spatial requirements, and space planning all while drawing sketches that accurately portray the teams visionsGain familiarity with typical interior design tasks including the development of all presentation items, schematic budgeting, and selection of furniture, fixtures, and materialsLearn how Cortlands philosophy, principles, and policies guide the conduct of our projects and operationsTHE GO-GETTERParticipate in the development of new design concepts and then convert them into mock-up packages, proposals, detail sketches, and construction documentsHelp coordinate the selection, ordering, and tracking of finishes, furnishings, and accessoriesVisit community construction sites to monitor the installation and implementation of Design team plansLead your own projects, as assigned, and present your results to the teamResearch and recommend process improvements to drive efficiency and project effectivenessTHE NETWORKERParticipate in as many formal and informal development activities as you can, including Lunch with the Leader forumsAsk your colleagues on the Design team, including senior executives, about our industry and the typical (and not-so-typical) career tracks at CortlandBroaden your understanding of our company by reaching out to team members in other functional areas, such as Supply Chain, Marketing, Talent, Facilities and Services, Investments, Operations, and Construction Our Vision of What Success Looks LikeOur managers and senior executives have flagged you as an unconventional thinker and future leader.Youre so effective in collaborating with a wide variety of roles not to mention a wide range of personalities that theres talk of nominating you for office mayor!Your enthusiasm for learning and volunteering to help is so contagious, your colleagues feel extra motivated and seem to have a little more pep in their step.
